Dimapur, April 20 (EMN): Leader of Opposition TR Zeliang visited CHC Jalukie to oversee Covid-19 preparedness and check the available resources and facilities in the district on April 20.

According to a DIPR press release, CMO Peren Dr. Dennis Hangsing highlighted the district’s preparedness and the action plan against the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) in his briefing, asserting that CHC Jalukie would be converted to Covid-19 hospital as and when as positive case is reported in the district, and that and all general OPD and essential functions of the health facility would cease, while Annie Nursing Home, Jalukie town and Samziuram sub-centre would be used to treat general patients suffering from other ailments.

CMO also stated that patients discharged from Zion Hospital, Dimapur are kept at JNV Hostel under facility quarantine and a total of 11 samples have been sent for testing so far and all have turned out negative.

During the interaction with medical doctors and nurses, district administration and NGOs in the CHC Conference Room, Zeliang said that priority must be given to doctors and nurses as they are the one who work closely with patients and are at risk. Stressing that healthcare workers have to be provided with the best equipment while dealing with the patients, he requested CMO Peren to crosscheck the equipment supplied to the district.

Zeliang later inspected the Covid-19 hospital and personal protective equipment (PPE) received from the government.
