TR Zeliang to inspect highway projects across Nagaland
DIMAPUR — Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang, who also holds the National Highways portfolio, will undertake a four-day tour starting November 11 to inspect key National Highway projects across Phek, Kiphire, Tuensang, Shamator, and Mokokchung districts.
Throughout the tour, Zeliang will visit various project sites engaging with engineers, NHIDCL officials, contractors, and local organisations, according to a press release received here on Sunday.
His assessment will focus on project progress, reviewing construction timelines, and identifying any potential delays to ensure timely completion. He will also evaluate the quality and safety standards of each project, ensuring adherence to national guidelines for long-term durability and reliability, it stated.
The Deputy CM will also examine the integration of environmentally conscious construction practices, including proper drainage systems, green cover, and the use of eco-friendly materials. Community engagement is another key aspect of the tour, with Zeliang planning to meet with local residents to gather feedback and address any concerns regarding the projects’ impact and accessibility.
At each project location, he will hold meetings with engineers, contractors, and community members to resolve immediate challenges and explore ways the state government can further support timely completion.
As per the press release, Zeliang said that the enhancement of road infrastructure is a crucial pillar for economic growth and regional connectivity and represents tremendous investment in future growth. He also said that the government is committed to ensuring completion of all highway projects with the highest standard of quality, safety, and efficiency.
This inspection tour is part of a larger state government initiative to prioritise road infrastructure development and enhance transportation networks across Nagaland, aiming to improve accessibility for citizens and reduce travel times. The Deputy CM’s findings and observations from the tour will help in planning future road infrastructure projects and expediting current undertakings, it added.
