Chief Minister TR Zeliang and NPF president Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu along with DAN spokesperson and Parliamentary Secretary for School Education Yitachu left for Delhi today to meet the Prime Minister and the Union Home minister in connection with the political crisis prevailing in the state. It is not clear when they will be meeting the Prime Minister. Sources also said they will be meeting other Central leaders.
Our Principal Correspondent adds : Yitachu informed this correspondent over phone that they reached Delhi this evening and have already met the BJP National General Secretary (Admin) Ram Lalji and had discussion on the present political imbroglio within the NPF while also dwelling on the move of BJP Nagaland unit extending support to the dissident group.
“We have come here to confirm the mind of the BJP central leaders,” he said, adding, BJP in Nagaland being an ally of the NPF-led DAN government they (national leadership) would never encourage the Nagaland unit or any other state units to indulge in such activity.
Yitachu also said that the BJP State unit president Dr. M. Chuba and four MLAs including Paiwang Konyak, Imtilemba Sangtam, Dr T M Lotha and Mmhonlumo Kikon were summoned by the party’s Central leadership to discuss on the issue. “We have been informed that under the directive of the Central leadership the BJP State unit has ‘withdrawn the support’ extended to the dissident group,” he claimed.
Yitachu also said that they (TR team and BJP state team) would be having a meeting in Delhi in presence of the BJP Central leaders before they return home tomorrow. “This is what we are contemplating,” he added.
