Dimapur, May 13 (EMN): Chief Secretary Temjen Toy has asked his officials to pull up their socks and start getting serious.
The state’s administrator is reported to have chided his officers, asking them to stop blaming one another; he is said to have noted “lack of coordination” between the departments, which he said was the reason why development work is being obstructed in the state.
The government’s publicity department, the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR), issued updates on Monday informing about a meeting during which Toy pulled the rug on the state officers.

The administrator held a “coordination committee meeting” with all the “line departments” involved with the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL), on May 13 in Kohima.

During the meeting, issues relating to finalization of alignment, land acquisition, land and other compensation, shifting of utilities and forest clearance were the main points of discussion where the AHoDs, HoDs and DCs highlighted the status of their respective departments and districts where NHIDCL works are being undertaken.

According to the IPR, the chief secretary was stated to have mentioned that the “main objective” of the meeting was to coordinate with all the stakeholders and “together solve issues and problems faced by the line departments while carrying out development activities, particularly on road construction works by NHIDCL in the state.”

‘Lack of coordination’ between different departments is the main hindrance; it is obstructing the work progress in Nagaland, the IPR stated quoting the administrator.

Keeping this concern in mind, he urged the departments not to blame on each other. Instead, he advised, they ought to seek solutions to settle issues at the level of head of departments, the IPR informed.

Further, Toy asked the general manager of projects to keep giving updates about the progress of work to the department in concern, and to the chief secretary’s office regularly.

Heads of departments and deputy commissioners attended the meeting, the IPR informed.
