Dimapur, Nov. 16 (EMN):  The chief secretary of Nagaland Temjen Toy inaugurated a newly constructed Ao Morung, on November 16 at Kisama village in Kohima. The government publicity agency the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) gave updates to the media on Saturday informing about the inauguration. Speaking at the inaugural programme, Toy congratulated the Kohima Ao Union under whose supervision the ‘morung,’ a Naga dormitory, was constructed, for successfully constructing “one of the best Morungs” at Kisama, the IPR asserted. He thanked the construction committee for their hard work and for the sacrifices they made to ensure that the construction completed on time. Also, Toy expressed happiness at “seeing the unity among the Ao community in Kohima,” who have all come forward to help and contribute to make the project a huge success,” the IPR stated. The official urged the Ao community to ‘take ownership of the Morung and preserve and maintain it.’ He said that the Ao community needs to stay strong and united and treat the current political issue with utmost importance and work actively towards bringing peace to Nagaland. Representatives from the apex body of the Ao tribe’s community Ao Senden, Kohima Ao Officers Union and the Kohima Ao Woman Organization spoke during the programme. They congratulated the Kohima Ao Union for a job well done.
