Dimapur, Sep. 24 (EMN): “Election is just around the corner but we (government) are not interested in election and we do not want to campaign for now. We want (Naga) solution for our people,” asserted Tovihoto Ayemi, advisor of Power department.
Tovihoto stated this during the inauguration of a welcome gate-cum-thanksgiving programme of NST Colony, Dimapur, on Saturday. Stating that settlement to the Naga political issue has been the desire and prayer for many years, he appealed to the gathering to support and participate in order to resolve the long pending issue.
While reminding that the WC-NNPG and NSCN-IM have signed a ‘joint accordant’ on September 14, Tovihoto said the government of India is serious and added that the 60 legislators of the state are facilitating between the government of India and the Naga political groups.
As developmental activities are taking place across the state steadily, he said development could be successful only if the citizens work together with the government. He also appealed to the citizens to take care of the public properties with a sense of belonging.
He also shared that NST colony, being centrally located, has ample avenues for the residents particularly the youth to initiate business. He also encouraged the residents to avail facilities owed to them as a recognised colony.
He asked the colony to establish a solid council with strong administration and further assured to repair the colony road at the earliest.
L Yantsowo Lotha, retired commissioner and secretary, shared that for the colony to move forward, they should establish a strong colony council including the youth and women organisations. To achieve that, he has sought unity and respect among each other.
“As a recognised colony, we should keep proper bio-data of every occupant for the smooth functioning of the colony,” he suggested.
