Dimapur, Oct. 1 (EMN): With the advent of Amur falcon roosting season, the Amur Falcon Roosting Area Union (Afrau) of Pangti and the Pangti Village Council has allowed domestic, national, and international tourists in the area.

The decision to allow all domestic, national and international tourists during Amu falcon migration season was taken during the general meeting of the Amur Falcon Roosting Area Union (Afrau) of Pangti and the Pangti Village Council Pangti village held on September 25.

However, all visitors are informed to strictly follow the government Covid-19 SOP guidelines.

Afrau president, P Thungchumo Shidio, stated that AFRAU of Pangti and the Pangti Village Council had restricted visitors during the falcon migration seasons in 2019 and 2020 to express resentment towards the state government for failing to provide infrastructural development activities in Pangti village. He mentioned that the villagers began conserving Amur falcon (zero killing) since 2013 but no development activities were taking by the government and no ex-gratia or incentive was given to the poor land owners till now.

Afrau stated that the land owners are willing to conserve and protect all biological resources if the government provides all round basic amenities.

Meanwhile, Afrau Pangti, Pangti Village Council and the Pangti Village Students’ Union (PVSU) have welcomed all to Pangti village, the falcon capital of the world.
