Dimapur, June 26 (EMN): Many people of Dimapur went into a frenzy after rumours started doing the rounds that bus drivers tending to returnees in the city were tested positive and that total lockdown would be imposed.
Confirming the news to Eastern Mirror, chairman of Darogapather Village Council, Nungtok Jamir, said that the bus drivers were employees of Delhi Public School (DPS) in Darogapathar. He, however, informed that no notice was issued regarding complete lockdown of Dimapur or the colony.
“The bus drivers are not allowed to come home and were sent straight to quarantine centres after their duty. But on June 24, he came home and only their area has been sealed by the government as of now,” said Jamir.
“We reported the matter to the concerned authority; the family of bus driver has been taken for testing and kept in isolation till results are out,” informed Jamir adding that only after the results are out, further decisions regarding sealing off of the colony would be discussed.
The district surveillance officer (DSO) also told this Reporter that the news of one DPS driver testing positive was part of the previous day’s report and not a new case.
“Everyone is in their respective Covid hospital and isolation ward and whatever procedures are to be followed is being done at this point,” said the DSO.
Dimapur police has also clarified through a social media post that ‘there is no official plan to totally lock down the district starting from Sunday. The origin of this fake information is being probed’.
