Dimapur, July 27 (EMN): The Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayat (AKMWP) has informed that Kohima witnessed continued peaceful total lockdown with no untoward incidents being reported from any of the wards on day-three.
The association informed this in a press release on Monday.
The AKMWP gave ‘all credit to the citizens and their ward and colony leaders for creating awareness and securing compliance’. “For all inconveniences being faced, we are assured by the concerned authority that 'contact tracing' is being greatly aided on account of total lockdown,” the statement read.
“While appreciating the ward leaders and the volunteers for their efforts, AKMWP reiterates the need to observe the SOPs issued by the authority and the list of exemption, especially the staff of dept. of Health and Family Welfare,” it added.
The association said that none should be allowed to point fingers as an excuse. “Where such instances are alleged, the authorities are requested to provide us the details so that it may be redressed and recurrence prevented,” it stated, adding that authorities should advice the staff to carry identification documents to merit exemption.
It has reminded the wards to enforce social distancing, and take strict action on sale of alcohol and drunken revelry under their jurisdiction in order to avoid additional risk to the lives of others through irresponsible behaviour.
“At this point of time when multiple reports of Covid-19 detection outside QCs in Kohima is going viral in social media, AKMWP appeals to all citizens to remain calm and continue to co-operate by staying home and safe. The detection of these cases is primarily due to successful contact tracing,” the press release stated.
The association also appealed to the citizens to support and pray “for their leaders at all levels, the frontline workers, the volunteers and humanity at large in our fight against the Covid-19 pandemic”.
The update went on to inform that the AKMWP distributed 400 face masks, 150 hand gloves and 150 bottles of hand sanitiser for the wards volunteers as an emergency measure on Monday. It added that out of the distributed items, 200 face masks and 40 bottles of hand sanitiser were contributed by the KMC.
