Normal life came to a standstill at Wokha headquarters on Saturday as there was business activities and vehicle movement in view of the week-long total lockdown being imposed across the state to contain the spread of Covid-19.

The total lockdown which began on May 14 evening will be in force till the 21st.

Houses of persons tested positive for Covid-19 were sealed and second random test at certain pockets in Wokha town where large crowds are usually witnessed, will be done on Monday, May 17.

An update from the CMO office and MS of District Hospital Wokha stated that the facility has a Covid Care (CC) with 14 beds and four intensive care unit (ICU) beds. It informed that the hospital will continue to treat general patients for now but it will be converted into a Covid hospital once treatment for Covid patients begins.

However, general patients will be treated at Christian Medical Centre (CMC) Vankhosung, which is said to have been proposed by District Task Force Wokha.

An update revealed that there are 120 beds across health facilities in 16 locations in the district, out of which 50 beds are in District Hospital Wokha.
