In continuation to the order issued by Deputy Commissioner Dimapur on March 4, the operation of prohibiting assembly of 5 or more than 5 persons shall continue to be enforced in Dimapur town jurisdiction till further notice. Informing this in notification, DC Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome, IAS, said, a ‘total curfew’ will be imposed on March 8 from 3 pm to 12 midnight in order to ensure peace and tranquility in Dimapur town jurisdiction wherein, public movement shall be strictly prohibited and vehicular movement shall be strictly prohibited.
The people have been informed to strictly abide by the ‘total curfew’. Magistrates, police, paramilitary forces, press/media and emergency services shall be exempted from the purview of the order. A review of the prohibitory orders shall be made in the next 48 hours on the basis of the situation.
The DC maintained that the law and order situation in Dimapur remains to be tense following the recent round of violence in the city and it appears that the situation warrants further assessment before the prohibitory orders on assembly of more than five persons is lifted, as a threat to disturbance of public peace, life and damage of property persists.
DC Dimapur rubbishes reports of mosque vandalisation
Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome, IAS, has termed the reports about vandalisation of a mosque in certain quarters of Dimapur during the recent violence as ‘baseless’.
The district administration appealed to all sections of the society not to spread any misleading information that would foment uncalled enmity among communities.
On the prevailing situation, he said, adequate security has been detailed in all the major mosques located in Dimapur.
