Minors torture case in Dimapur: ENPUD seeks justice for victims
Dimapur, Nov. 25 (EMN): The Eastern Nagaland People’s Union Dimapur (ENPUD) has appealed to the law enforcing agency to take stern action on Ronika Miachieo and Amos Ezung, the two accused in the torture case of three minors, saying that the cruelty inflicted on the victims cannot be erased from their minds.
Dimapur police had arrested Ezung from Dimapur on November 3 and Miachieo four days later in connection with the torture of three minors, including a 9-year-old girl from Longwa village of Mon district.
A case was registered against the duo under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Juvenile Justice Act and Child Labour Provision Act, at the Women Police Station on October 31, when the victims’ families lodge a complaint two weeks after the children were rescued.
In a letter to the deputy commissioner of Dimapur, the ENPUD extended its support to Konyak Union Dimapur’s condemnation letter on the assault of the minors and demanded the culprits be booked under the non-bailable section and ensure that they are not bailed out.
Meanwhile, the union lauded the concern authority for the timely intervention and arresting the accused. It added that such heinous crime against children is beyond human comprehension and all right thinking citizen should condemn it.
