Football is the world's most celebrated and watched sport. Millions of fans follow the game as their primary sport. Even big players and athletes from other sports watch football and are huge fans. For auto enthusiasts, their favourite sport will be Formula 1, which is called the pinnacle of motorsport. 

 

F1 drivers are also huge admirers of soccer players, and over the years, we have seen many drivers call football their favourite game. Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso are the top drivers on the F1 2025 grid. Let’s see their favourite footballers.

His favourite teams are FC Barcelona and PSV in the Netherlands. BARCA is one of the historical clubs in the world, and they are five-time Champions League winners. He fell in love with Barcelona because of football legend Lionel Messi. 

 

2. Lewis Hamilton

 

The seven-time world champion is a legend and a world icon. He is the first coloured F1 world champion, and his hard work and dedication have earned him this iconic status. He is also a huge fan of football, and he is a diehard fan of the English football club Arsenal. His favourite player is Thierry Henry.

 

Recently, he celebrated Arsenal's win by posting a story on his Instagram. He went to school with former Manchester United player and English footballer Ashley Young. Hamilton has many times mentioned that if he were not an F1 driver, he would have become a footballer.

 

3. Fernando Alonso

 

Spanish driver Fernando Alonso is a legend himself and a F1 veteran. He is a two-time world champion and has been racing in Formula 1 for more than two decades. In all these years, Alonso was many times seen watching football.

 

As a Madrid man, he has been an ardent follower of the Real Madrid club all these years. His favourite football player is the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo. In one interview, he mentioned that Ronaldo is better than Lionel Messi. Alonso says he is born to be a Real Madrid fan and will remain one until death.
