Top 10 highest grossing mobile games for July 2022
Tencent’s Honor of Kings has once again become the top-grossing mobile game globally in July with a total player spending of $225.8 million, according to Sensor Tower.
In its report, Sensor Tower claims that the majority of the gross revenue for Honor of Kings comes from China. The report says the figure is nearly 94.6 per cent of the total revenue. The rest of the revenue comes from Taiwan at 2 per cent and Thailand at 1.6 per cent.
Another game from Tencent, PUBG Mobile, took the second spot with $164.3 million in gross revenue. Similar to Honor of Kings, a large portion of PUBG Mobile’s total revenue comes from Chinese consumers. Sensor Tower estimates that China provides nearly 69 per cent of PUBG Mobile’s total gross revenue, followed by 6.4 per cent from the US.
Genshin Impact from miHoYo was the third highest earning mobile game worldwide for July 2022, followed by Candy Crush Saga from King and Roblox from Roblox Corporation.
In its report, Sensor Tower says that an estimated $6.7 billion in player spending was generated by the global mobile games market across the Apple App Store and Google Play in July 2022. Please note that Google Play is not available in China.
“The No. 1 market for global revenue in July 2022 was the U.S., which generated $1.9 billion, or 28.4 percent of total player spending worldwide. Japan ranked No. 2 for revenue at 20 percent, followed by China, where Google Play is not available, at 17.8 percent,” wrote Sensor Tower.
Despite player backlash over microtransactions, Activision Blizzard and NetEase’s Diablo Immortal made it to the top 10 of Apple App Store’s highest grossing list.
