Dimapur, Feb. 14 (EMN): Minister of PWD (Housing and Mechanical), Tongpang Ozukum on Monday met with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin at his office in Chennai for allotment of a plot of land at Vellore to construct a Naga Patient House.

It was a follow up on the letter written by Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio to his Tamil Nadu counterpart on February 1 this year, requesting to allot a plot of land in view of the problems and hardship faced by the patients, who go to Vellore for medical treatment, due to lack of proper accommodation in both Vellore and Chennai.

An update received here on Monday informed that Ozukum met with Tamil Nadu CM, Secretary PWD Housing, member Secretary of Chennai Municipal Development Authority (CMDA) and officials of the Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB).

The delegation

The delegation from Nagaland visited a plot at Velachery, which is nearby the airport, for Nagaland House in Chennai, it was informed. Stalin also assured the delegation that he would look into the matter and “directed the officials if the delegation wished to visit Vellore and other places”, it added.

Ozukum also thanked the government of Tamil Nadu for helping the Naga community during the Covid-19 pandemic by arranging transportation for more than 2000 stranded Nagas in various parts of the state to the train station so that they could return to Nagaland, said the update, adding that the delegation also presented gift packets of Naga Coffee, Naga Honey and a souvenir of Nagaland state Logo (Mithun).

The PWD minister was accompanied by Saravana, Special Secretary Home; Thavaseelan, DC Mon; Ketousielie Kenguruse, EE PWD Estate Division; and Repa Ozukum, PA to the minister.
