Mokokchung, Aug. 4 (EMN): Minister of PWD (Housing and Mechanical), Tongpang Ozukum, opined that election to the urban local bodies (ULB) should be allowed in places where it want to hold the polls. He, however, stated that it should not be enforced upon to those who do not want.

He stated this during the inaugural programme of Alempang ward authority office building in Mokokchung town on August 3.

“Options should be opened for those who want to hold the polls for ULB,” Tongpang said.

He stated that conducting ULB elections has lot of opportunities and developmental avenues, adding without ULB elections, governmental funding becomes restricted and that MLAs alone cannot do much.

In this connection, Ozukum opined that Mokokchung district should consent for ULB elections along with the rest of the state.

He also marveled the workmanship of the architects for coming-up with such a beautifully and spacious building in such a small space of land.

The dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Rev. Dr. Temsu, senior pastor of Alempang Baptist Church.

Dr. Meyiwati has briefed the gathering on the construction report, while Alempang ward chairman, Lemasashi, delivered the vote of thanks.
