Dimapur, Feb. 3 (EMN): The Tobu Area Students’ Union is said to have undertaken its first phase of public consultations, from January 28 and till the 3rd of February, with stakeholders of four villages in Mon district concerning issues of a ‘school adoption program’ called the ‘Teach for Tobu’, the updates stated. The four villages were Monyakshu, Pessao, Yongkhao and Tamkoang, the union stated.
During the consultation, the press release stated, the union’s leaders interacted with village education councils, village councils and student unions from the four villages. The stakeholders of the communities assured to extend cooperation to the students’ organisation ‘for successful implementation of the adoption program,’ the updates stated.
“The Tasu also made inspection and site visits at the proposed school and issues such as shortage of desk and benches, shortage of teachers, poor infrastructure, high dropout rates of the students, irregularities of the teachers were identified and the same was also discussed with the stakeholders,” the press release stated.
Through ‘community mobilization’ the union will undertake “improvement and renovation of school buildings, construction of benches, desk and fencing around the school campus, development of school garden and enrolment of students at the class.”

The second phase of the union’s consultation will be had with teaching staff of four villages, from February 11 and till the 16th of February, the press release stated. After it, the formal launch will be initiated during the last week of February, the press release stated.
“In this regard, all the teachers are requested to be present at the station failing which the union will be compelled to write a complaint letter to the DEO Mon for initiating further course of action,” the union added.
