
Dimapur, Feb. 27 (EMN): In a major set-back for the Naga People’s Front (NPF), party members under 55 Tobu assembly constituency in Mon district under the leadership of former MLA Naiba Konyak have joined the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) en-masses during a programme held on February 22 at Tobu headquarters.
The members have decided to resign from NPF en-masse and join the BJP under the leadership of Temjen Imna Along, who it described as a young and energetic state BJP president, as well as under the leadership of Y Patton, deputy chief minister, an update from MA Wanmai Konyak stated.
In a short speech, Naiba Konyak encouraged the members to have confidence in the leadership of the state BJP president saying he is a man of principle and trusted by the central BJP rank and files under the leadership of its national president JP Nadda and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Aboi unit president Eshu, state BJP executive member Anden, and Tobu mandal president Ngushu delivered words of acknowledgement to the party. Besides the unit president S Ngaubu, presidents of youth wing, women wing, farmer’s wing also spoke on the occasion.
It stated that about 500 party workers and leaders attended the meeting.
