EMN DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 16 TOBU area under Mon district has remained cut off from the rest of the State since August 17 following damage of culverts and landslides at many locations between Tobu and 71 GREF Camp. The Tobu Area Students’ Union in a release issued by its vice president KT Lehwang today lamented that repair work and construction of the damaged road could not be completed as expected or in time, causing untold hardship to the general public and government staff under Tobu sub-division due to shortage of essential needs and commodities. The union said since the road is the only lifeline for the people of the sub-division, no essential commodities could be brought by any other alternative roads. Further, it rued that the scarce electricity supply, which the people of the area often get, had also been totally cut off since July plunging the entire area into darkness. Even the Airtel and BSNL network is very hard to get for reasons best known to them, it stated. The Tobu area students, on behalf of general public of Tobu Area, therefore has appealed to the State Government, BRO and the officers concerned of the department to look into the matter and restore the services at the earliest.
