Dimapur, Oct. 9 (EMN): The Tizit Area Students' Union (Tasu) has threatened ‘complete blockade’ of NH 702 if the state government do not resume construction of the highway running through Namtola and Mon.
A statement from the union on Tuesday claimed that though work order for the project was released last year, the pace of construction was ‘so slow’ despite several appeals made to the department concerned as well as the contractor.
The interstate connectivity road from Tizit town via Yanpan-Sakho-Loakkun-Nokzang to Khonsa in Arunachal Pradesh has also been ‘completely neglected and left abandoned,’ it claimed. “In this regard too, the Tasu has met the contractor, the department concerned authorities and have asked to resume the construction of road.”
The union has further asked the department to begin construction of four RCC T-Beam bridges on the same road. Citing those problems, the Tasu has stated that it has ‘no other option’ but to serve the 20-days ultimatum to the government.
