Tizit public flay June 6 firing

Dimapur, June 8 (EMN): Tizit unit of the Konyak Union (KU) and Tizit Area Students' Union (TASU) expressed dismayed over the firing incident between a combined forces of 12 Para commandos and 164 Inf Bn. (H&H) TA and Assam based insurgency group on June 6 night within its jurisdiction resulting in the dead of five persons. The incident took place between Lapa Lampong and Lapa village on the life line of Longlam village and Oting village respectively. A joint release resented that the incident had caused fear psychosis in the minds of the school going children in particular and the Tizit masses in general and gravely hampered the daily activities of the public. It also regretted that the incident had taken when the entire Naga society is yearning for a permanent peace and harmony in the State. Stating that Tizit valley is a "Peace Zone," the apex NGO organisations under Tizit sub-division further asked the Indian forces posted in Tizit sub-division and the Assam based insurgency group not to used Tizit jurisdiction as the battle field. It has asked to shun violence and stop bloodshed games in Tizit soil in the near future. Meanwhile, Tizit public have conveyed condolences all the bereaved families of the incident. The joint statement was appended by TASU president and general secretary T Noklem Konyak and Phoanei Konyak and Tizit unit KU president and general secretary P Apei Konyak and T Wangdun Konyak.
