Dimapur, Nov. 17 (EMN): Tizit police in Mon district have arrested two persons in connection with the highway robbery and murder of one youth along National Highway 702 at Lapa Lampong on November 11.
A police report issued by the additional superintendent of police and PRO Mon DEF, Longpoksang Lemtur, stated that reports were received about thefts and highway robberies during the month of October and continued through November which culminated with the gruesome murder of one local youth namely Yingtai Konyak (32) along the NH-702 at Lapa Lampong on November 11.
It stated that acting on reliable and specific inputs, a team of police led by Honkiumong Yimchunger, SDPO Tizit, arrested one Taonyei Konyak (31 years) on suspicion of being a member of the highway robbery gang.
During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that the deceased Yingtai, one Manpha Konyak and the arrested accused Taonyei Konyak were part of the highway robbery gang. It was revealed that Manpha Konyak had stabbed the deceased following an altercation.
The report further stated Manpha Konyak was arrested on November 16 in connection with Tizit PS. Case No. 0l7/ 2020 U/S 392 IPC, Tizit PS Case No. 018/ 2020 U/S 392 IPC and Tizit PS Case No. 019/ 2020 U/S 302 IPC.
