Dimapur, July 29 (EMN): The Tizit civil society organisations have decided to impose a 12-hour ‘chaka bandh’ on N-M Road (NH-702) from 6 am to 6 pm on July 30 over non-compliance to its demand to resume the construction of the said road.

The decision was taken after a thorough deliberation owing to deplorable condition of the road and no positive response despite serving a letter on July 22, said a press release issued by the Konyak Union Tizit Unit.

Informing that the 12-hour ‘chaka bandh’ is the first phase of agitation, it warned of imposing indefinite road blockade in the second phase if the concerned contractor fails to resume road repairing work during the first phase.

During the first phase agitation, para-military, police personnel on duty, teachers and students in uniform, administration and medical emergencies will be exempted from the purview of the bandh, it said.

It also requested the general public of Mon district to extend co-operation during the agitation.
