Public of Tizit area in Mon district has resolved to uphold the principles of free and fair election.
The resolution to this effect was taken during a meeting on February 23 at the meeting hall of Konyak Union, Tizit unit, in the presence of Konyak civil society organisations and KBBB.
“We recognise that the use of violence, threats, coercion and intimidations during elections is a grave of violation democratic principles and undermines the integrity of electoral process,” an update stated.
The public has pledged to refrain from ‘communal’ and ‘ism’ politics during elections as it felt that such divisive tactics are harmful to the community and undermine the integrity of democratic system.
The public also pledged commitment to the clean election movement of KBBB and to effectively implement the communiqué issued by the Konyak CSO on Feburary 14 in their respective village, town and wards.
It further warned that failing to adhere with the resolutions would invite severe penalty against the defaulter(s) both legally and from the Konyak CSO against the person(s) involved. Dimapur, Feb. 24 (EMN)
