Dimapur, Aug. 25 (EMN): The Lotha Public Organisation (LPO) has said that Nagas have been absorbed in “fighting amongst ourselves” for too long and it’s time to unite with true spirit of reconciliation and forgiveness for the sake of the future generations.

The LPO stated this in a press release signed by its president Sulanthung Humtsoe and vice president Phyobemo Odyuo.

The organisation has also appealed to the government of India (GoI) to resume the Indo-Naga political talk at the prime minister-level to expedite the peace talk.

While maintaining that “Flag and Constitution” are two inherent rights that are dear to the Nagas, it urged the GoI to recognise them, saying that such a move will bring about an honourable and acceptable political settlement to the long-pending issue.

It also recalled how Prime Minister Narendra Modi had signed the historic Indo-Naga Framework Agreement (FA) in 2015 to bring about logical conclusion to the protracted Naga political issue based on unique history and shared sovereign power. While lauding the move, it urged the GoI to respect and adhere to the FA in letter and spirit.

The LPO went on to state that Lotha Naga people stand “committed and firm in upholding the Naga identity until our ultimate goal of sovereignty and integration is achieved”.
