Tikhir community accorded status of separate Naga Tribe

Dimapur, April 2 (EMN): The Tikhir community has been officially recognised as a separate Naga tribe, more than two months after the government of Nagaland announced it.

Tikhir tribe recognition event was held at Kiusam town public ground on Saturday with Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio as the special guest.

Rio took to Twitter to wish the Tikhir community on the occasion.

"I express immense joy and heartfelt wishes to the Tikhir community on being accorded the status of a separate Naga Tribe. I assure full cooperation and support in achieving the ambitions and aspirations of the Tikhir tribe," he wrote.

Minister for Agriculture and Cooperation, G Kaito Aye also attended the event as cultural guest.
