Tiema Khe, Sechü Zubza to face off in Capt. N Kenguruse tourney final today

KOHIMA — The final match of the Captain N Kenguruse, MVC Memorial Football Tournament between Tiema Khe (Kidima) and Sechü Zubza will be held at Jakhama Local Ground on February 23 at 11 am.

Tiema Khe (Kidima) and Sechü Zubza emerged victorious in all their matches, securing berths in the finals. Meanwhile, Kingsmen Tsiesema clinched third place in the tournament by defeating Tyrants FC 3-2 in the semi-final played on Thursday.

Mhasilhokho netted the opening goal for Kingsmen in the sixth minute, followed shortly by Haindingbe’s contribution of the second goal in the 10th minute. Kenei sealed the victory with the deciding goal in the 25th minute. Despite Tyrants FC’s efforts, they managed to score two goals, both courtesy of Menguse Sale in the 28th and 36th minutes, respectively.

Earlier, Tiema Khe (Kidima) convincingly defeated Tyrants FC with a score of 4-0 to secure their spot in the final. Dupisa scored twice, first in the 18th minute and then again in the 59th minute of the match, while Kevisekho and Kenepol each added a goal in the 37th and 44th minutes, respectively.

Kingsmen Tsiesema, engaged in a closely contested match against Sechü Zubza FC, resulting in a 1-1 draw. Asekhu from Sechü Zubza scored the opening goal just two minutes into the match, followed by Gideon from Kingsmen finding the net in the 35th minute to equalise the score.

The tie match ended in a penalty shootout, which Sechü Zubza FC won by a score of 4-3.

The champions will receive INR 1,00,000, while the first runners-up will be awarded INR 75,000, and the second runners-up will receive INR 50,000. Individual awards include INR 20,000 for the highest scorer, INR 25,000 for the best goalkeeper, INR 25,000 for the player of the tournament, and INR 10,000 for the man of the match in the final.

The tournament, which began on February 19, is being organised by the Red Shield Division in collaboration with the Kigwema Students’ Union.
