DIMAPUR — Tiakala Ao, general manager of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), has been promoted to the rank of chief general manager (CGM) with effect from January 1, 2024, by becoming the first person from Nagaland to have reached the top position in an all-India financial institution.
An update from NABARD stated that she is presently heading the bank’s regional office in the state.
A postgraduate in Geography, Tiakala joined the Apex Development Bank in 1993. She has worked in various capacities in the organisation’s regional office in Assam and Nagaland as well as its corporate office in Mumbai.
A development banker for over 30 years, she has vast working experience in the domains of microfinance, financial inclusion, farm and off-farm sector development, credit planning, infrastructure financing and human resources.
She is credited with implementing various NABARD-sponsored developmental projects in the state aimed at uplifting lives in rural Nagaland.
