‘Thunivu’ movie review: It’s Ajith’s show all the way; will do wonders at box office, say viewers
Our Correspondent
Bengaluru, Jan. 11 (EMN): Actor Ajith Kumar, director H Vinoth and producer Boney Kapoor have collaborated again for “Thunivu”, which was released on Wednesday, after their earlier outing together in “Nerkonda Paarvai” and “Valimai”.
“Thunivu” has Manju Warrier in the female lead and actors like Samuthirakani, Pavani Reddy, Mahanadi Shankar, Veera and others in the supporting roles. It has music scored by Ghibran, cinematography by Nirav Shah and editing by Vijay Velukutty.
Story
“Thunivu” is an action heist wherein a group of robbers attempt to rob INR 500 crore from Your Bank. The plan is put in place even before the audience could realise what is happening in the flick.
However, the plan is thwarted by a white-bearded man, who also has set his eyes on money. The action begins from here as the story is peppered with flashbacks along with twists and turns.
The first half of the movie is enjoyable and packed with a lot of action, but the second half is not up to the mark as the director tries to blend social message with the storyline. The major attraction of the movie is Ajith Kumar’s deadly performance. Once again, he has stunned the viewers in a negative avatar and his MJ dance moves are a treat to watch.
Manju Warrier shines in action sequences and Ghibran’s music is a bonus.
Overall, the movie has a strong message about ‘our banking and corporate system’.
What netizens have to say about “Thunivu”
Ramesh Bala wrote: ‘Thunivu: If you ever got a call for a credit card or a personal loan from a bank customer service representative, then you will relate to the movie…powerful message about 💰 #AK ‘s attitude.. Dialogue delivery.. Action.. 360 degree action sequence.. The way he handles guns..All 3 songs..More than ticket price worth..Money message is a bonus.’
Siddharth Srinivas: ‘Stunt sequences become super important when the proceedings of a film are limited to a single location – #Thunivu gets that absolutely right. Opening sequence, the blasts and the second half post interval fight – thrilling stuff 🔥👏 AK the mean and macho man here!
Idea of #ThalapathyVijay to do a full-fledged family entertainer amidst many action films has worked wonders 👏 #Varisu is getting a fantastic response from all round and is on its way to become a big blockbuster. @directorvamshi has made the MEMORABLE film he was talking about!’
‘#Thunivu: Credit must go to #HVinoth for once again choosing to dive deeper into the cause and effects of a crime and try to tackle an emotion within it. He’s ably supported by
@GhibranOfficial, Nirav Shah and Supreme Sundar. Mocobot and 360 degree shots 👌
#Thunivu: Tailored for fans. #AK is the action king in this likable entertainer that has a speedy and engaging first half followed by an emotionally loaded second. Once again, #HVinoth’s core theme and stunt sequences score better than his emotional value. Good overall!’ he added.
‘#Thunivu Interval: Fast and furious. Totally no deviations from the core plot, as #HVinoth keeps it rolling with a racy screenplay that has small surprises at regular intervals. #AK’s swag and villainy are enjoyable!’ he concluded.
Sathish Kumar: ‘#Thunivu #AK interview scene in the film was superb dialogues by #HVinoth
Each and every dialogue of the journalist received claps in the theatres. Expecting a complete dialogues oriented film from #HVinoth soon with #Ajithkumar𓃵 Starts well by directly going to the plot without wasting any time. #AjithKumar gives a treat to his fans with his charisma and good dialogues. #ManjuWarrier impresses. First half is action packed, second half conveys a message. 2nd half could have been better.’
Rajasekar: ‘3 out of 5 (star rating), first half is a bonafide thriller, second half in Shankar’s socio commentary zone. With #Ajith’s presence, more people will know about bank scams. #AK’s one man show with impressive action sequences. I thoroughly enjoyed scenes featuring #AK, looks like he had mad fun!’
