Dimapur, April 18 (EMN): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday updated that a heavy rainfall is likely to continue over the north-eastern states for the next five days. The rain will be accompanied by strong wind, thunder and lightning.
The department updated that under the influence of strong southwesterly winds from Bay of Bengal to north-eastern states at lower tropospheric level fairly widespread/widespread rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm/lightning/gusty winds is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam-Meghalaya, Nagaland-Manipur, Mizoram-Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next five days.
As per the report, strong wind accompanied by thunder and lightning (wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph) and hailstorm at isolated places is also likely over Assam-Meghalaya and Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura and Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on April 19.

According to the report, Peren, Kohima, Tuensang and Mon will experience fairly widespread rainfall on April 19; scattered rainfall in Dimapur, Mokokchung and Longleng; isolated rainfall in Wokha and Phek; while Kiphire and Zunheboto may remain dry.
On April 20, Dimapur, Mokokchung and Longleng will continue to experience scattered rainfall; Peren, Kohima, Tuensang and Mon will experience fairly widespread rainfall; isolated rainfall in Zunheboto, Kiphire and Phek; and dry spell over Wokha.
While dry spell will continue in Phek and Zunheboto on April 21, Peren, Dimapur, Kohima, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Longleng and Mon will experience fairly widespread rainfall, scattered rainfall over Wokha and isolated rainfall in Kiphire.
