DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 12
POLICE personnel of Railway Protection Force (RPF) Dimapur arrested 3 persons in connection of stealing goods from a running train on February 2.
The accused identified as Bitu Das (30), Bikram Phomlo (25) and Sana Singh (29) stole 12 poly bundles of tyres and 3 bundles of old trains from a train between Dhansaripar and Rangapahar siding on the night of February 2.
According to RPF OC Rokonicha, when the train stopped between the said places, the three accused came down with the stolen items and hid in paddy field, where they were spotted by the villagers who caught them and informed the police.
At first the RPF recovered only the stolen tyres from their possession but later they confessed of stealing bundles of clothes which was also recovered.
A case has been registered under Railway Property Unlawful Possession Act and the accused forwarded to Tinsukia Jail.
