DIMAPUR — Three officials from Nagaland led by Akunu Meyase, secretary of Economics and Statistics, attended a one-day meeting of State Secretaries (Planning & Statistics) at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on November 14. The meeting was organised by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation specifically to improve the statistical systems in the country.
An update from the Economics and Statistics department stated that the meeting dwelled strictly on the major statistical components that the ministry is implementing with various agencies.
During the meeting, the support for statistical strengthening sub scheme, which is a 100 % central sector scheme being implemented by the Ministry, was reviewed. To further take forward the scheme, it informed that the World Bank is taking a step ahead to revamp the scheme to be more diverse and inclusive.
The other areas of discussion included upcoming 8th Economic Census which is scheduled to be started on April 1, 2025, matter regard to methodology and estimate to GSDP, IIP and CPI, especially to come up with sub state estimates, conduct of National Sample Survey 80th Round which is proposed to be carried out through the computer aided personal interview (CAPI) and data innovation lab which will use AI to produce and provide data.
