Three children missing from Karbi Anglong district’s Dhansiri valley

DIPHU — Three children aged 5 to 12 years old from Karbi Anglong district’s Dhansiri valley have been reported missing since September 16 and are still untraceable.

The missing report came to light on September 25 when the guardians of the missing children, accompanied by Dhansiri Member of Autonomous Council (MAC), Tiluttoma Hasnu, shared the details with the local media.

The missing children are Dinesh Gour, Opho Hasnu and Rahul Munda. Both Hasnu and Munda are from Dikhangsi village, Dhansiri.

The children went missing from Gopal Kumal’s house in Nawgaon basti, Dhansiri, where Gopal and his wife keep children in order to provide them with free education. The following day, an FIR was filed at Dhansiri Outpost.

MAC Hasnu told the media that the guardians of the missing children informed her on September 16 about their children’s disappearance and asked her to assist them in filing an FIR.

Hasnu expressed regret that the 10-day search for the children had been fruitless. Hasnu, along with local women, visited Kumal’s house, where the missing children were staying, and after visiting the house, she said that it appears that there is no safety for children there.

Kumal’s wife stated that all of the children were present in the house until 9 p.m. She lit mosquito repellent coils in the room where the children were sleeping. The next morning, they learned that the three children were missing, and a search of the entire neighbourhood was conducted, but they were not found.

One of the parents of the three missing children told media persons that he was informed about the disappearance of his child on the evening of September 16.

Much effort was made to find the children, but in vain, he lamented.
