Dimapur, April 24: After a gap of six-years, Mahindra Adventure is all geared up to bring The Great Escape once again to Shalom Resort on April 27.
This was informed at a press conference on April 24 by Ashwin Naik of the Indian Motor Sports Club (IMSC). Naik informed that this was the 160th edition of the Mahindra Great Escape where not only the toughness of Mahindra vehicles and products will be showcased but also participants can get a chance to win a brand new Mahindra Thar Jeep during the national competition.
He informed that four participants will be selected during the competition at Shalom Resort where they will be provided an all expense paid trip to Mumbai to vie for the highest award trophy event in any off road competition. The event will be hosting participants not just from Nagaland but from the entire Northeast region.
Naik further said that there will be 13 regional rounds across the country where 40-50 finalists including from the Northeast region will compete in the finals in Mumbai.
Mahindra Adventure will organise the Great Escape trail drives in 11 cities across the country, with an addition of five new locations - Munnar, Lucknow, Raipur, Dimapur and Jaipur. At each location (depending on the terrain) a 4X4 trail drive and a 4X2 trail drive will be set up.
The competition in Dimapur will comprise of two categories, Modified and Stock category. “While the trail drive is open for anyone who is interested in experiencing the off-road capabilities of their Mahindra vehicles on trails and terrain prudently chosen by us,” Naik said further informing that the trails are specially designed by professionals to make sure the off-road experience is challenging, yet safe for an adventurous day with family.
Ashwin also stated that the idea of Great Escape was to expand the Mahindra Adventure family and also give Mahindra customers a chance to experience the thrill of off-roading. “Mahindra vehicles are known for their tough and rugged DNA and Great Escape is the perfect platform for participants to not only understand their vehicles capabilities but also hone their driving skills”, Ashwin stated.
It was also informed that the registration fee for the Great Escape is INR 15,000 for two people, and INR 4000 for the trail drive, also for two people. On spot registration will also be available on April 27.
The event is being organised by Mahindra Adventures, co-ordinated by Indian Motor Sports Club (IMSC), and in collaboration with Apex Motor Enterprise, Dimapur and Nagaland Adventure and Motor Sports Association (NAMSA).
