DIMAPUR — The Power department, Government of Nagaland, has informed that one 66kV Double Circuit Tower of 66kV Kiphire-Likimro transmission line near Pungro Town in Kiphire collapsed in the early hours of Saturday due to theft of the tower members or metal parts.

The collapse of the tower has affected the power generation of the Likimro Hydroelectric Power Project (HEP), said a press release issued by Executive Engineer, Transmission Division, Kohima.

“It is to mention that the said 66kV Kiphire-Likimro transmission line is a vital transmission line for evacuation of Likimro HEP and is an important element of the state power transmission grid,” it said.

While informing that the Power department is making all efforts for erection of the collapsed tower, it has appealed to the public “not to indulge in theft of tower parts and requests the concerned authority to take necessary action for booking the culprits”.
