Dimapur, July 29 (EMN): Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president K Therie has thanked the people of Phek district, especially the NPF for supporting INC candidate KL Chishi “with a very laudable majority” in the recent Lok Sabha elections. He addressed the ranks and files of Phek District Congress Committee (PDCC), all the frontals bodies, the 5 A/C ACCC at Phek on July 29.
“The reason we are together is for Christ. We do not want to bring this in the forefront of politics but it has become unavoidable for we cannot compromise at any cost though our faith may be a weak one. We cannot allow them to eliminate us without a contest,” said Therie at the event according to a press release issued by PDCC general secretary Rilo Therie.
He expressed confidence that “more affected people from different religions” and marginalised sectors will come together to resist the onslaught of the Hindutva political domination in the coming elections.
While claiming that the BJP government at the Centre is fragile, Therie said the minorities “have no option but to rise and defend ourselves from being lynched almost every day and also being discriminated.” He added that ‘elected MPs are not fools altogether; they may be fooled once but not always; they will soon realise the dangerous trend for their own communities.’
The NPCC president stated that Nagaland government is under serious pressure from BJP and urged the party workers to remain steadfast, be strong and be the seeds of Congress. While claiming that “Congress will return to power through ballot paper,” he said “BJP Government is like an egg and when it falls, it will be utterly beyond repair.”
