Dimapur, March 9

The Tenyimia Union Dimapur has in the strongest term condemned the March 5 incident, which it said, was the ‘most horrific act’ ever recorded in the history of Nagaland.
The union demanded that stringent action be taken to book all the perpetrators without delay. Terming the incident as the ‘Blackest Day’ which has caused irreparable damage to the good image and reputation of the Nagas, who are otherwise known for their hospitality and friendly nature, before the world at large, a statement issued by Tenyimia Union Dimapur president Khalo Kapfo and general secretary Zhasa Vupru said, “Anybody who broke into the jail should be granted their wish to stay in jail for life.”
.According to the Tenyimia tradition and customary law, there is no provision for lynching a rapist, not to speak of a suspect, the statement said.
“The TUD have, after thorough deliberation with its 10 (ten) constituent tribes viz., Angami, Chakhesang, Inpui, Mao, Maram, Pochuri, Poumai, Rengma, Rongmei and Zeliang, come to know that no Tenyimia tribe had either authorized or sent any person to participate in the incident of March 5, 2015. The actions taken by the mob on the fateful day are totally unacceptable to TUD and, as such, condemned in strongest term.”
The Tenyimia Union Dimapur appealed to the law enforcement agency and the Judicial Inquiry Commission to bring out the truth about the incident without fear or favour.
