TUENSANG — The Tuensang Voice (TTV), a Tuensang-based non-governmental organisation, recently visited the landslide affected families taking shelter at the relief camps at Phinjang Colony and NST sector set up by the District Disaster Management Authority in Tuensang village and provided financial aid.
The organisation, formed in the year 2012 with the motto “Generating Awareness,” has been actively participating in social activities and various drives for the betterment of the district since its inception. TTV had initiated a crowd funding drive to support the people affected by the disaster from August 6 to 15.
Chaang, one of the founding members of the TTV, informed that the organisation plans to extend crowd funding drive and appealed to every like-minded people to come together and contribute for the cause. She also stated that TTV are on the mission to identify and reach out to those families and individuals who have been relocated elsewhere within the town.
“At a time like this, where so many people are going through great difficulties, I request everyone to help those people in need,” she implored.
The relief camps located at two sites in Tuensang village currently host a total of 115 persons from 26 households out of which 44 are school going students. The camps were initiated by the DDMA on July 29 to accommodate people who had to evacuate their damaged homes as a result of landslide and land-sinking.
Amangla, one of the residents at the relief camp expressed, “It is sad that we now have to abandon our homes and look for a rented house to live in. I wish it didn’t happen to us.”
