The power of Satan

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n the past several weeks Nagaland has been shook up with alarming reports of Satan worship gaining ground in some parts of the State. The Church has tried to downplay such reports and they should do so.The question herein arises as to why some of our younger generations, perhaps elders too, have turned to Satan worship—if at all they have. There could be several, or numerous, reasons,
Our society as a whole is afflicted with certain glaring shortcomings, no matter how much we proclaim that we are developing and advancing. Sure, we accept human faults but Satan worship as the rumours say? And in this connection, people have started reacting for it is doubtful if anyone would admit it.
True it is that the Roman Catholic Church which has the maximum number of adherents, had to bear the brunt of their ire because of various factors that had to do with human frailties. In this so-called modern and secular world, all other Christian denominations have also been compelled to introspecting vis-à-vis the origins, practices and adherence to the code laid down for their particular denominations.
It is a foregone conclusion that the evil power definitely has an open hotline open for devil worshippers who are very active in their propagation of the greatness of Lucifer even though knowing fully well that they will lose in the end. The spectre is that they have a time to try and succeed in their evil designs and so they would leave no stone unturned to still play the game.
The public at large need not be duly concerned about the wiles of the devil. Many Government servants attend (if at all) their offices Monday to Friday and they indulge in legitimate work, even illegitimate exercises. Then over the weekend they attend church in their Sunday best and no doubt, plead forgiveness. And yet¸ the whole ritual is repeated every week.
To believe and practice what our culture has inculcated is definitely understandable. But to torture, and joys of life, has crossed the superlatives of definition. This was certainly Satan inspired.
That the perpetrator(s) may be of another community is beside the point. That the crime had taken place in our State capital where reside the Governor, Chief Minister, Army GOC, Police DGP and practically all heads of departments speaks volumes of our society’s shortcomings.
So, it is now high time to wake up and educate the parents. Such innocent victims generally belong to families where the parents have no control over them. How so? The parents generally pamper them or have no time for their children as they have “too many other works”—and this attitude crosses all economic barriers.
Perhaps, in this particular case, this was not so. There could have been any number of other factors. Yet the spectre of the devil must not be overlooked or bypassed. Belief in the good because it suits must also take into account the bad which is just the other side of the coin. May the soul of the little boy find peace with the Almighty Creator.
