DIMAPUR — The Local Organic Farmer's Mart officially opened its doors to the public at the Sereni Complex, Nyamo Lotha Road, near The Oasis, in Dimapur on March 24.
According to a press release, following its high-profile inauguration in December last year, the opening marks a significant milestone in Nagaland’s journey toward becoming a sustainable organic hub.
It stated that the initiative is the result of high-level international collaboration aimed at elevating Nagaland’s organic sector.
Central to this mission are two landmark agreements: A Letter of Intent (LOI) signed between the Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Nagaland, and IFOAM Organics Asia (South Korea); and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) inked between the Cold Mountain Food Processing and Marketing Cooperative Society Ltd. (SPV) and IFOAM Organics Asia.

In addition to these alliances, the event marked the formal establishment of the Young Organic Global Network (YOGN) Nagaland office.
The launch saw a gathering of international experts from seven different countries alongside key local officials.
Prominent figures delivering keynote addresses included Jennifer Chang, Executive Director of IFOAM Organics Asia; P Tokugha Sema, Director of the Department of Industries and Commerce and State Nodal Officer (SNO) of PMFME, Nagaland; Dr. Akali, President of Nagaland Organic Konnect (NOK); and the regional representative of the State Bank of India (SBI), the initiative’s primary financial partner.
The programme culminated in a formal curtain-unveiling ceremony, officially transitioning the project from a vision into a functional marketplace.
The Organic Local Farmer's Mart is expected to serve as a vital hub, allowing local farmers to bypass traditional barriers and connect directly with consumers and wider markets.
