As it has been notified through mass media by the government of Nagaland that there will be lockdown from May 14 to May 21, my attention has been drawn. I salute all who are in the service Good Samaritans of frontline risking their own lives.
As the world is going through the 21st century, human beings have seen all amazing progress, conquered space and invented unthinkable science and technological achievements, more are made with their inventions. But when the Almighty stretches His will with judgement and disaster like the Covid-19 which is terrible for the global family, the rulers and scientists became helpless in the hands of the Almighty God. Even as they invent nuclear weapons to destroy the entire universe within a few hours, they are not able to get balm of healing against Covid-19 which has caused the global family with great turmoil, pain, and anguish. We try to service by hiding in a secure place—that is the only remedy to save ourselves.
In such a time like this when Naga churches are keeping quiet, I remind churches of the book of Esther 4:13 and 14. “Don't imagine that you are safer than any other Jew just because you are in the royal palace. If you keep quiet at a time like this, help will come from heaven to the Jews, and they will be saved, but you will die and your father's family will come to an end. Yet who knows—maybe it was for a time like this that you were made queen!”
I may be wrong but I have not come across, last one and half year we have gone through pain and anguish but I have not heard any voice from churches. I believe today our churches have a privilege in all dimensions of life. Today our churches have the biggest voice, the strongest institution in any area of life and are the richest institution. And yet we want neutrality. We have no praxis theology in our day to day life.
At a time like this, we should we wait for Government and someone, church must stand and get involved. The situation demands that we come together, call for repentance and call for natural repentance and healing for the nation.
