Had not Income Tax Department(IT) of the Union Govt. unearthed the hidden and illegal economic empire of the infamously famous MKR Pillai, this kingpin in the office of Police HQ would have remained as indispensable and super consultant as long as his health permits. Pillai has brain for oiling his superiors, be it senior Police officers or politicians, who are practically induced to become his followers. Pillai seemed to have developed a kind of image of deity and virtually worshipped by those who are in connivance with him. He seems to be such an excellent manipulator by which he managed to be in-charge of the most plumb portfolios as Police Transport and Modernization while in service and till IT exposed his activities. In connivance with his political and Police friends, Pillai had sufficiently destroyed the flagship of Police Modernization in particular and brought irreparable demoralization within the ranks of the lowly in general. Pillai is today the king of an empire at the cost of the system of Nagaland Police administration. Thanks to those elected leaders who manned Home Department and DGPs who treated Pillai as an icon.
Pillai’s shifting of hard cash from Nagaland to his home State Kerela through his pawns was intercepted on the way some time back and yet his coterie managed to nib the episode in the bud as such capitalization would engulf his fans. Despite of the disclosure of such magnitude of looting the public money by Pillai, the expert manipulator, possibly the investigation will not reach logical conclusion as the manipulator has immense means to purchase whoever comes his way. A policeman cannot inquire into the case of another policeman. For proper investigation, a competent body free from any encumbrances alone can do justice. To get such justice, the State Govt. has to have the initiatives. Whereas, Pillai’s case miserably failed to catch the eye of NPF and its govt. as nothing about this issue was mentioned despite of passing 9 points resolution in its CEC meeting on 14.6.17. This indicates that Dr. Shurhozelie’s Govt. may refuse to give necessary sanction for thorough probe into the case by competent authority, and Pillai will remain ever lucky as king over the disproportionate wealth plundered from Nagaland.
MKR Pillai is a giant termite who has eaten the Nagaland Police’s foundations, and yet, instead of imprisoning him, the serving Police officer has reportedly warned that if Pillai is displaced the entire Police will be adversely affected. Local Police officers are apprehensive that Pillai’s absence will create vacuum which none of them is trained and is found efficient to fill. How pathetic and dependent are the Naga Police officers of today? How intricate, scientific and technical are the assignments of Pillai that none amongst the serving Police officers is found fit to wear the shoe of the former? Such mentality of the local officers has been the given opportunity for the termite Pillai to exploit the people of Nagaland. I believe the Police HQ or Home Department is going to organise a very grand farewell meeting in honour of the outgoing super Consultant as reportedly removed. In such farewell meeting, his friends will shower praises for his prowess and the invaluable wealth so extracted with flair and daringly.
Well, MKR Pillai is not the lone termite in Nagaland. Similar indispensables are engaged by DAN Govt. in different ranks as though the local Nagas are useless. When Nagaland was in its nascent stage, Bengalese and Assamese babus ran the show for want of educated locals. We are grateful to those who rendered invaluable services to us. Today we are in the 54th year of our Statehood. We can trust and rely on our people and we cannot remain so helpless without the presence of particularly those termites who are ruling over us. It is disgusting indeed to observe that certain non local retired officers are running the show as the Govt. stands so helpless without them. Let DAN re-employ Pillai, if not who will efficiently manage the affairs of Nagaland Police.
