DIMAPUR — A thanksgiving mass for Rev. Sr. M Daina S Lumpikhumla, Congregation of Jesus (CJ), was celebrated at St. Dominic Savio Church, Kiphire village on Sunday.
Rev. Sr. Daina Sangtam, CJ, is the first religious nun to be professed from the village after 35 years since the inception of the Catholic faith in the village, an update stated.
Rev. Fr. Philip Magh, parish priest, was the chief celebrant of the occasion. He was concelebrated by Rev. Fr. George Anthony, Fr. Thomas Toretkiu, Fr. Satheesh, and Fr. Marius Patton.

In his homily, Fr. Philip congratulated Rev. Sr. Daina for her bold decision to be a missionary in Nepal—an unknown land with a different language and culture, where Christians are a minority and Hindus and Buddhists form the majority.
Fr. Philip further added that Sr. Daina embodies the call to be salt and light in the world, and her willingness to step into God's calling echoes Abraham’s courageous faith.
“May her actions and service illuminate her path and add flavour to lives, bringing God’s love to those who haven’t yet experienced it. May she be a powerful testament to the transformative power of a life lived in service and obedience to her higher calling,” he concluded.
Rev. Sr. Daina S Lumpikhumla, from the Sangtam tribe, was born in 2004 to Setongli Daneil and Lijungla Rebecca, the sixth of nine siblings. She completed her schooling at Good Shepherd School, Kiphire, and her higher secondary education at Sechu Zubza, Kohima.
She joined the candidacy in Nepal, then proceeded to postulancy in Allahabad, and novitiate in Patna, Bihar. She made her first profession on January 30, 2026, at the Assumption Cathedral in Kathmandu, Nepal, officiated by Rev. Fr. Silas Bogati, the current Apostolic Administrator of the Apostolic Vicariate of Kathmandu.
During her vote of thanks, Sr. Daina expressed gratitude to everyone, especially her parents, for their continuous love and support. She also thanked her formators and educators for shaping and moulding her. She extended her thanks to the parish priest, fathers, sisters, catechists, parishioners, organizers, the choir group, cooks, and various committees for making the day so grand and unforgettable.
