Addressing the 4th Annual Fashion Show organised by the Department of Fashion Technology under The Global Open University Nagaland (TGOUN) on the theme “Colors of North East” at de Oriental Grand, the Governor appreciated the TGOUN for providing skill based knowledge to the youngsters.
‘Education should be in tune with the society so as to meet the challenges of skill requirement by the society, trade and commerce and not only imparting knowledge to the younger generation,’ said Governor PB Acharya.
He said that after coming out of many universities and after attaining education the youngsters become hapless as they lack the skill. Therefore many of the youngsters seek for white colored jobs as they are unable to take up skilled works or join trade and commerce adding that knowledge should not be self-centred but it should be social oriented.
Encouraging the fashion students, the Governor however said that one should promote and preserve what they have received from the rich culture and tradition. “We have to be vibrant culture and should not lose own identity,” he said while adding that one should not forget own identity by applying some other culture and tradition.
The show which was also a kind of competition among the final year students of TGOUN was won by Rülhouvonuo Angami for her design “Black Classic” while Neishe-ü Puro bagged the second position for her design “Tears of warriors”.
