Dimapur, June 8 (EMN): The Tesophenyu Group Students’ Union (TGSU) has strongly condemned what it termed “inhumane, irresponsible and humiliation act” perpetrated by the 3 (NH) Battalion Assam Rifles, C/O 99 APO, on three of its senior and innocent members namely SohiloTep, Yhunsilo Tep and Chungshe Tep in the state capital on June 6 at 1 pm.
The union said in a statement that it was quite shocking that the armed forces apprehended three of its members on mere suspicion from a public place and caused physical and mental trauma which is a clear violation of fundamental human rights. It expressed dismay over the way the trio was blindfolded and interrogated for hours before making them sign a document without disclosing its content despite furnishing valid documents for identification.
Terming the action of the 3 (NH) Battalion Assam Rifles, C/O 99 APO inflicted upon the three civilians as draconian and breach of law, the union stated that prejudicial detention without reason deserves condemnation by every right-thinking people.
