Dimapur, June 24 (EMN):
The first-batch of customised desktops distribution to beneficiaries was carried out on June 24 at the office of Tenyimi Students’ Union Dimapur (TSUD), NST colony, Dimapur.

The distribution drive was an undertaking of the TSUD and E-Rebuild on the theme 'Project- Connect' for the students and the teachers’ community. The project is aimed at making virtual-learning accessible to all students by providing affordable desktops for students and teachers.

The price of each desktop set at INR 7000 features a branded 15.6 inch LCD/ LED monitor, CPU configuration of 2 GB RAM/ 160 HDD/ Intel/ AMD processor along with a mouse, keyboard and required cables with a one-year warranty.

Speaking at the distribution programme, TSUD president, Rukewezo Watsah, stated that the union had received more than 300 bookings till date from different parts of the state.

Watsah said that the market price of the desktops costs around INR 10000- 15000 depending on the quality and brands. However, having no motive for gaining or profiting from the project, he stated that E-Rebuild and the TSUD had agreed to sell them for INR 7000 per desktop regardless of brands so that deserving students get the chance to make the full use of the opportunity.

Watsah informed that the union received more than 100 applicants on the very first day of the announcement. He also informed that the E-Rebuild team was willing to take an approximate order of 1000 sets.

Understanding the times and the circumstances, he stated that TSUD had made some consideration regarding the service and extended the same to the teachers. He added that teachers, who are in dire need of desktops, could now avail the same service.

The president also stated that the courier service was only available to the districts of Kohima, Mokukchung and Pfutsero. However, he stated that TSUD would make arrangements so that student leaders from other districts could help in reaching out to buyers from faraway districts.

On the occasion, the co-founder of E-Rebuild had demonstrated on basic computer operating systems and gave the first-hand demo on how to use and access the internet. He maintained that the desktops offered would have no complaints and assured that the buyers need not worry about the product.
