Organised by the district administration in collaboration with key stakeholders and line departments under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, the seminar was attended by the members of Adolescent Girls Club and students from different schools, informed an update from Information Assistant, Wokha. Speaking to the participants, Terhase said that focus has been given on teenage pregnancy as it is becoming a burden not only to the family but also to the society. He added that awareness and sensitisation is required to prevent such cases. Pointing out some of the risks associated with early pregnancy, Terhase stated that it could cause cervical cancer, anaemia and sexually transmitted diseases, and urged the participants to be aware. The resource person added that “it is difficult to raise a child when you are still a child” and encouraged them to have the sense of responsibility for every action they take or make. Dr. Wonchano E Enny, Women Welfare Officer (MSK), Wokha, delivered the welcome address at the programme.
