Eastern Naga Students’ Federation, and others mourn two students killed in a Dimapur road accident and call for justice.
DIMAPUR — The Eastern Naga Students' Federation (ENSF), Zeliangrong Welfare Association (ZWA), Delhi, and Rongmei Students' Union Dimapur (RSUD) have mourned the death of two students in a road accident in Dimapur on August 29.
In a statement issued on Monday, the ENSF expressed anguish over the accident and condemned the incident, saying that two young lives had been cut short before their time.
The federation extended its condolences to the families and friends of the deceased and said it stood with them in their hour of sorrow. It demanded that those responsible be made answerable before the law and receive punishment as prescribed under its provisions. It said the investigation and delivery of justice must remain impartial and fair without delay.
The ENSF further called upon the administration and law enforcement agencies to remain vigilant. It said speeding, reckless driving, underage driving and drunk driving must be checked consistently, with offenders dealt with firmly in accordance with the law.
The federation also called upon the agencies concerned to undertake sustained efforts to educate and sensitise the public, particularly young drivers, about the responsibilities that come with driving and the grave consequences of irresponsible conduct on the road.

It said the deaths should serve as a call for duty, accountability and enforcement of the law.
In a separate condolence message, the ZWA Delhi expressed sadness over the deaths. It said that at an age when they should have been looking forward to their dreams, aspirations and a bright future, their lives had come to a tragic end.
ZWA Delhi conveyed its condolences to the bereaved families and expressed solidarity with their friends, teachers, classmates and the wider Zeliangrong community.
It prayed for strength for the families to endure the loss and for the memories of the deceased to remain a source of comfort and inspiration to those who knew them.
Meanwhile, the RSUD in its note expressed condolences over the deaths of the two students and said it was distressed by the circumstances surrounding the incident.
It condemned reckless and negligent driving and urged the authorities concerned to conduct a fair, thorough and impartial investigation into the incident.
The union further called upon the authorities to ensure that the facts were established and that the person found responsible was dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.
It extended condolences to the bereaved families, relatives, friends, classmates, teachers and the Don Bosco community and expressed solidarity with the grieving families while demanding that justice be served.
