Team Nagaland women’s squad secured bronze in the Senior Women’s 500 kg category at the 38th National Tug of War Championship in Shirdi.

DIMAPUR — Team Nagaland (women) won bronze in the Senior Women’s 500 kg category in the 38th National Tug of War Championship played on Sunday at Sai Baba Educational Complex, Shirdi, Maharashtra.
Team Nagaland defeated Uttar Pradesh in the bronze fight by winning both straight pulling rounds.
Team Manager Kuzhovesa Soho, in a press statement, stated that the Nagaland women’s team, participating for the first time in the national championship and grabbing bronze, is a testimony to good progress going forward.

Soho further conveyed its gratitude to Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for bearing the entire expense of the championship, which enabled the women’s team to be decorated with a beautiful bronze medal.
Soho also thanked Coach Vemele Thingo for his efforts in keeping the team intact and thus bringing laurels and fame to the state. The team manager also conveyed its indebtedness to the entire Naga community for the moral support and prayers.
The team further thanked its president, Dr. Vekho Swuro, for all the logistic support and assistance throughout the training journey to the championship. The team is expected to reach home on the morning of August 27.
