Team Nagaland attends ‘Festival of innovation and entrepreneurship’

Dimapur, April 28 (EMN): A five-member team from Nagaland including three grassroots innovators attended the ‘Festival of Innovation and Entrepreneurship’ (FINE) at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi from April 10 to the 13th.

The festival was organised by the department of Science and Technology and National Innovation Foundation, an autonomous institution of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), and inaugurated on April 10 by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, stated an update from State Council of Educational Research And Training (SCERT).

It stated that five roundtables were held on the theme focusing on scaling up and commercialisation of innovations, innovations for wealth creation and employment, inclusive and sustainable development, healthcare innovations as well as energy and environment. It added that the festival brought together policymakers from the government, sector-specific institutions, farmers, innovators, entrepreneurs, start-up founders, academicians, and representatives from industry, and incubators.

Dhanendra Kumar, former executive director of the World Bank; former chairperson of Competition Commission of India; former secretary of ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH), as well as representatives from Flipkart, Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), Sequoia Capital, ISRO, Qualcomm, Deloitte, Orion Innovation (Education vertical), Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), NABVENTURES, Amazon India, Samunnati Financial Intermediation and Services Private Limited have participated in the festival.

It stated that Temsujungla Jamir, recipient of INSPIRE award; Lanu L Jamir, recipient of the 2019 NIF award and 2020 Millennium Alliance clean energy, FICCI New Delhi. Rev. I Sunep Longkumer, recipient of the NIF 2018 award’ and Selichum Sangtam, recipient of the NIF 2018 award, represented Nagaland among the top sixty student innovators from India.

It stated that Seichum Sangtam also received a memento and certificate from the President of India, Droupadi Murmu.

As the nominations for the INSPIRE-MANAK scheme was found to be declining across Nagaland in the past years, SCERT Nagaland stated that it would organise training for head of schools for the nomination of children to the INSPIRE-MANAK scheme soon.

Meanwhile, it has appreciated the continuous support and encouragement extended by the department of Science and Technology, New Delhi, and the National Innovation Foundation-India, Gujarat.
